Some of the environments feel too similar to each other. The music in 2 was more cinematic and atmospheric than 3 which worked well in setting the mood for each level, but there's nothing that caught my attention like the theme that plays during the snowboard race (though I guess the same thing can be said about 3 for some level themes). The camera was also an issue for me as it got stuck on something or just refused to let me control it. Combat in 2 felt like a drag because either the enemies were bullet sponges or your shots were too weak. I thought Rayman controlled much better in Hoodlum Havoc than he did in every version of The Great Escape/Revolution. There’s also no backtracking and there’s a decent amount of content in the game. The games tone is lighthearted and the levels are fun to look at. Rayman 3 improved the battle system while adding brand new power’s that helped with battling and platforming.

Yes the jokes were pretty corny and yes the voice acting was mediocre, but it actually felt like a Rayman game. Rayman 3 was a much more enjoyable experience in my opinion. Rayman didn’t even throw his fists in the game, again making the game feel like it didn’t belong in the Rayman series. Rayman 2 also required backtracking which felt annoying. The dark levels weren’t fun to look at, and the music wasn’t very enjoyable either. The overly dark (and relatively creepy) tone didn’t fit the limbless hero after his colorful and lighthearted adventure in the first game.
